Terms of service

Last updated September 2026. By using CruxStudy you agree to these terms. We have tried to write them so that a parent can read them once and know exactly what they are getting.

What CruxStudy is

CruxStudy is a study tool for the SAT, PSAT/NMSQT and ACT, made by CruxSci. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the College Board or ACT, Inc. SAT and PSAT/NMSQT are trademarks of the College Board. ACT is a trademark of ACT, Inc. Our practice questions are written by us. They are modeled on the real exams; they are not real exam questions.

The free tier

The arcade, practice by skill, the diagnostic, the mini test, the calculators, the blog and the starter lessons (how your exam works, both strategy lessons and the opening lesson of every content area) are free, with no account and no card. We intend to keep them free for as long as CruxStudy exists. We cannot promise a website runs forever, and we would rather say that than print the word "lifetime" and let you assume otherwise.

Membership and billing

• Membership is $9.99 per month for the first student and $5.99 per month for each additional student on the same account.
• It renews monthly until cancelled. There is no minimum term and no cancellation fee.
• Payment is processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
• Adding or removing a student changes your bill from the next billing period, prorated.
• Prices may change. If they do, we will tell existing members by email before it affects them.

Cancelling

Cancel at any time from your account. You keep membership access until the end of the period you have already paid for, then drop to the free tier. Cancelling does not delete your data. Your history stops syncing and the member-only views close, and if you come back it is all still there. If you want it deleted, ask us and we will delete it.

Refunds: if something is broken, or you were charged in a way you did not expect, email us and we will sort it out. We would rather refund you than argue.

Accounts, parents and students

• An account holds one or more students, up to two parents, and optionally one educator.
• Parents and educators on the account can see that student's practice activity and scores.
• If you are under 18, a parent or guardian should set up and manage the account.
• Keep your sign-in details to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
• One account is for one family or one tutoring relationship. For a class, a school or a district, contact us for group pricing.

What you may not do

• Copy, scrape, republish or resell our questions, lessons or explanations.
• Share an account beyond the people it is meant for.
• Attempt to break, overload or work around the service.

What we do not promise

We do not guarantee a score, an improvement, an admission, or a scholarship. Practice test scores are estimates produced by our own scoring model, not official results, and the real exams are equated in ways no third party can reproduce exactly. Use the numbers as a guide to where to study next, not as a prediction.

We aim to keep the service available and correct, and we fix things when they are reported, but we provide it as is. To the extent the law allows, CruxSci is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from using it.

Ending things

You can stop using CruxStudy at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and if we do we will tell you why.
